ROCKPORT HAPPENINGS!

TAILGATE WAS A WINNER:
Although the Browns did not come through for us, everyone else did.  The new idea from North Olmsted UM Church for Rockport to have a combined tailgate party worked out well.  I would like to thank Scott Holchin who relieved my fears and made sure the Browns game came through loud and clear on our parlor TV. The weather was beautiful and so was the great variety and quantity of food.  We figure we had at least forty attendees, so we hope to repeat next year but with a different outcome to the game.  Hope you are enjoying some of the new activities hosted by your North Olmsted and Rockport party planners. Thanks all, Diana Leitch, Rockport

DONUTS AND COFFEE HOUR:
Please consider hosting donuts and coffee before 9:30am worship and/or after worship coffee hour.  Fellowship is an important part of the life of the church and why not have food as well! Sign-up sheet is posted on the chapel hallway bulletin board.

Please join us for this 12-week Disciple Fast Track Old Testament study Wednesdays through Nov. 19th at 7:00pm in the meeting room.  This study will be led by Jim Spallino.

Now that school has begun again, we’re asking for help in shopping for the cabinet! We have a small crew of people who take turns shopping for the cabinet every so often, and we’d love to have your help! We have a cabinet fund, and you do not have to spend your own money, unless you’re donating items. We have a list of item suggestions available, and if you’re interested, please see Kira or call the office. Please make sure to turn in your receipts to the office to be reimbursed! Thank you

World Communion Sunday is October 5

World Communion Sunday celebrates the unity and diversity of the universal Christian community. As we gather around the Lord’s table, we recognize our unity in Christ, joining with others worldwide in Holy Communion. Embracing this commitment, United Methodists are dedicated to nurturing diverse leadership within the church by allocating funds for scholarships and leadership training for under-represented students.

Contributions to this Special Sunday offering historically received on the first Sunday in October fund scholarships for U.S. and international students, as well as grants for global inclusion, diversity, equity, and access training. Last year, over $360,000 was raised to advance these educational initiatives.

Reimagining Connection: An All-Ohio School of Ministry on Beloved Community

“Reimagining Connection” was the theme of the inaugural All-Ohio School of Ministry that brought more than 200 clergy from across the Ohio Episcopal Area to Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Sandusky for three days of worship, learning sessions, and relation-building.

Unity and connection were woven throughout the conference with intentionality. Each worship service was led by a team comprised of clergy from both the East and West Ohio Conferences. Liturgists, presenters, and those delivering messages hailed from across Ohio. At one point even the rallying cry of “OH-IO” was launched to signify the unity in the room.

The importance of prayer was the focus of a passionate message from Rev. Angela Lewis, dean of the East Ohio Cabinet and superintendent of the Northern Waters District in East Ohio.

“Every great move that’s happened from the birth of the church, from the awakenings, from the camp meetings, from whatever – every great movement has been birthed, has been saturated, has been marinated in prayer! If we want something to happen in The UMC between the East and the West we better find an upper room and get together and start praying and hearing what the spirit of God wants us to do because we want this to be what God wants us to do and not just ourselves!” Lewis proclaimed.
