DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS NOV. 5TH
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back!

ALL SAINTS DAY:
We will celebrate All Saints Day this year on November 5, 2023 at 10:00am. After the lighting of the candles for members of the congregation who have transferred to the Church Triumphant, we invite you, in a slightly new way, to recognize and remember the saints in your life.  We will use battery candles, which will be available from an usher when they direct you to come forward for the sacrament of communion at the altar rail, and then you will turn the candle on and place where instructed.  Rev. Barbara Davis, Tina Berardi and Pastor Don were instrumental in planning this service.

MEN’S GROUP:
The Rockport Men’s Group will meet on Thursday, November 9th at 6:30 pm at the church for a potluck dinner. There will be a great meal and time for fellowship.   Captain Jim Holcepl will present a short history of Sault Ste Marie MI, the Soo locks and his experience as a tour boat captain for the Original Soo Lock Boat Tour Company (owned by Interlake Steamship Co) this past summer.  Everyone is invited to come and hear Captain Jim’s presentation. Come and enjoy this special time together!

MILITARY BOXES:

We will be packing Rockport military boxes on Sunday, November 12th after the 10am worship service.  Please stop in room 22/meeting room following worship to help with this very important ministry of Rockport.  Also, if anyone has names of family, friends, or loved ones serving our country, please let Jeff Zullo know.

NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN NOVEMBER 19TH:
If you have not already been contacted by the church office regarding joining and you wish to join, please call the church office. It is always a joyous occasion to welcome new folk into the household of God and commit their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.  It will truly be a day of celebration with dedication Sunday, new members joining, and a pancake breakfast following.  BE SURE TO JOIN US ON NOV. 19TH! God is good all the time.  All the time God is good!

SAVE THE DATE FOR STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST:
On Sunday, November 19th we will celebrate Stewardship Sunday.  This is a time for everyone to show their gratitude to God by supporting the church with their, Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service and Witness.  Following worship, we will commune together and celebrate in Wesley Hall with a Pancake breakfast hosted by Diana Leitch.  Please let the office know if you are willing to help.

BOOK CLUB:

Our next book discussion will be on Monday, Nov. 27th @ 7:00pm at Ellen Todia’s house (3770 E. Surrey Ct., Rocky River, off of Story Rd.).  The book we will be reading is Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult “Mad Honey tells the story of two women who have fled abusive pasts to make a new life in the small town of Adams, New Hampshire. When one is found dead, and the other finds her son accused of the murder, the tense courtroom drama that unfolds shines light on the true cost of secrets kept for love.” Hope to see everyone on Nov. 27th for food, fun, fellowship and discussion.

CHAT AND CHEW ADULT DISCUSSION GROUP!
Come and join us this summer! Bring your lunch and enjoy your food AND a great discussion! We will explore various topics in the church and Bible. Fall Dates: We will meet once a month on the 3rd Monday of the month, 12 to 2 p.m.

*November 20th
*December 18th

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTY:
will meet on Thursday, Nov. 9 and 30th in the church parlor.  All knitters, crocheters, and people who want to learn to knit are welcome.

MISSION POSSIBLE!
THE YOUTH & Children will be collecting winter items for the Cabinet and also for different homeless groups this year. Hats, Scarves, Gloves, cans of SOUP or ready to eat canned goods with the pull tops (for example: ravioli or hearty soups) hand warmers - the small kind you squeeze with your hands to activate, inexpensive blankets that can be worn easily (may be gently used, they do not have to be brand new) and small sized toiletries (the youth group make homeless kits to put into the cabinet and also distribute)
·       We will still be collecting our “normal” items for the cabinet as well!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

ADULT BIBLE STUDY WEDNESDAYS at 7 p.m.
Join us for a 9 week study from Sept. 13 – Nov. 8 taught by Jim Spallino, that is a short-term study out of the Disciple Study series, called “Invitation to the New Testament”. Explore the writings of the New Testament using the story of Jesus as the starting point. This survey of the testament looks at how the early church took ownership of and was shaped by the story of Jesus and how the church learned how to develop as disciples and create communities of faith. There are 23 people that are participating in this study and all are welcome!
