BOOK CLUB: Please join us November 17th @7:00pm in the Parlor, for our next book club. “The Rose Code by Kate Quinn is a historical fiction novel about three women--Osla Kendall, Mab Churt, and Beth Finch—who work as codebreakers at Bletchley Park during World War II. The story follows their work deciphering German codes, the pressures of wartime secrecy, and their fractured friendship. Years later, an encrypted letter reunites the women to unmask a traitor form their Bletchley Park past who left one of them wrongfully imprisoned in an asylum.” Hope to see everyone on November 17th for food, fun, fellowship, and discussion.
ROCKPORT’S CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE: Rockport is again asking for your support of our Christmas Giving Tree for the benefit of the children and adults of Ohio Guidestone. Until mid- December, we will be collecting unwrapped giftsfor their Holiday Shop. Please pick an ornament off our Christmas tree and purchase a gift for that age individual. Ideas for gifts can be found on the Ohio Guidestone flyer on our bulletin board. The Holiday Shop provides an opportunity for Guidestone’s counselors to choose Christmas presents for their clients. The staff at Guidestone told me that many of the children in their care would not get a single Christmas gift if not for donations from corporations and churches such as Rockport UMC.
Ohio Guidestone offers services for mental health, substance use, family care, foster care, juvenile justice, residential treatment, home-based counseling, job training and more. Their main campus is in Berea, but they have locations across Ohio. Thanks again for your support. Diana Leitch
HANGING OF THE GREENS: Come and Decorate and prepare the Lord’s House for Christmas on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 10:30am to 2pm. Rockport is rich in tradition, united in mission and blessed with love. We come together in fellowship and service to God this Advent season. All are welcome to this important Rockport Tradition!
CLEVELAND KIDS’ BOOK BANK MISSION OPPORTUNITY: On Saturday, December 6th from 9:30-11:30am the Rockport Book Club has decided to do this mission for the holidays. You don’t have to be a part of the book club, all are welcome! We can do lunch afterwards if you are interested. Also, North Olmsted UMC will be going on Tuesday, November 18, 1-3pm if that works better for you. The mission of the Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank, 13913 West Parkway Rd., Cleveland 44135, is to foster literacy and a love of reading by distributing free books to children in collaboration with community partners.
The Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank is working to ensure all kids in Greater Cleveland have books to build their own home libraries.
A book in the hands of a child is a magical thing! Reading fuels imaginations, teaches empathy, supports academic achievement, and helps parents build bonds with their kids. Sign-up sheet is posted.
DONUTS AND COFFEE HOUR: Please consider hosting donuts and coffee before 9:30am worship and/or after worship coffee hour. Fellowship is an important part of the life of the church and why not have food as well! Sign-up sheet is posted on the chapel hallway bulletin board.
BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY: Please join us for this 12-week Disciple Fast Track Old Testament study Wednesdays through Nov. 19th at 7:00pm in the meeting room. This study will be led by Jim Spallino.
TAKE-WHAT-YOU-NEED CABINET! Now that school has begun again, we’re asking for help in shopping for the cabinet! We have a small crew of people who take turns shopping for the cabinet every so often, and we’d love to have your help! We have a cabinet fund, and you do not have to spend your own money, unless you’re donating items. We have a list of item suggestions available, and if you’re interested, please see Kira or call the office. Please make sure to turn in your receipts to the office to be reimbursed! Thank you
