ROCKPORT HAPPENINGS!

 

HELP NEEDED FOR SATURDAY, JULY 22ND DURING MISSION WEEKEND! 
We need help to cook breakfast and dinner to have ready for the Youth when they get up for their mission day, and for when we get back at the end of the afternoon. Breakfast needed to be ready by 9 am and dinner 6/6:30 p.m. plus cleanup from cooking.  

PLEASE let me know as soon as you’re able! 


YOUTH MISSION WEEKEND!!!!!
DO YOU NEED HELP WITH SOMETHING AT YOUR HOUSE/CONDO?!?!?!!
Rockport’s Youth will help you! We will be spending an ENTIRE weekend together for fun and mission! Friday the kids will have a fun night, Saturday they will spend the day in mission, and Sunday we will have a Youth Sunday where they will bring worship to you! We will also be honoring the graduates on that Sunday (July 23rd!) 
 
On SATURDAY, July 22nd, we will be coming to you to help you out with misc. tasks you may need done! You will be able to sign up ahead of time for 35 min increments for things like pulling weeds, washing windows, putting things up in your attic, vacuuming and dusting, etc! 
 
FREE OF CHARGE - this is our way of giving something to YOU, our church family. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: We will have many people to get through - SO if you are in need of help and we cannot fit your need into a 35 min window, we will come to you another day and help you out! Please let us know of your need so that we can assist you! 
 
SIGN UP sheets will be out beginning on June 17th and every Sunday through Sunday, July 15th. Please call the office or email education@rockportumc.org with any questions! 
 



MEN’S GROUP/ALL CHURCH EVENT:
The Rockport Men’s Group will meet on Thursday, July 13th at 6:00 pm at the 103rd OVI (Ohio Volunteer Infantry) grounds at 5501 Sheffield Road in Sheffield Lake for a potluck cookout and tour of the OVI Museum. We will have the cookout at the Leitch’s cottage (#28) which is the 3rd one on the right when you pull in the driveway.  Diana and Jim will provide plates, plasticware, condiments and hamburgers and rolls. Bring a side dish or a dessert.  Come and enjoy this special time together and learn about how the 103rd OVI helped the Union win the Civil War.  You can go directly to the Leitch’s cottage or come to the church at 5:30 pm and carpool to the museum. EVERYONE IS INVITED TO COME TO THIS FUN CHURCH EVENT.
(The 103rd O.V.I. of Sheffield Lake celebrates the lives and service of Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Medina County soldiers serving the 103rd regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.  It is the oldest Civil War organization composed of direct descendants that continues to meet on an annual basis.  It is organized to perpetuate the deeds and services of the men who bravely served the 103rd.)






LUNCH & CHAT ADULT DISCUSSION GROUP!

If you have graduated from high school, college, or trade school, Join us on July 23rd for Youth Sunday to be honored! And CONGRATULATIONS! 






BOOK CLUB:  
Our next book discussion will be on Monday, July 24th @ 7:00pm on the church patio.  The book we will be reading is “The Wedding Veil” by Kristy Woodson Harvey. This is a lovely, heartfelt novel about four woman connected by the Wedding Veil, a family heirloom.  Going back and forth between present day, and 100 years before this really is such a great historical fiction book, with all the southern charm. Hope to see everyone on July 24th for fun, fellowship and discussion.







CPR TRAINING: 
Trustees is having a CPR certification and training on our AED machine on Saturday, July 29th from 9-12 noon.  Cost is $17/person. Those interested please sign up on the bulletin board or call the church office.  If interested and can’t make this date, a future date will be scheduled if there is interest.






TWO EVENTS FOR THE ENTIRE CHURCH:

Bent String Concert at the Barn on 31950 Krebs Rd., Avon Lake.  $20 donation which benefits Music on a Mission.  (musicmissioninc.com)
Sunday, Dec. 3, 2:30pm.  
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood.  This family-friendly musical about family! Go on the journey of trials and triumphs of Joseph, the favorite son of Israel. If only his brothers agreed! This production features different styles of music and the most colorful costumes! Perfect for all ages and a wonderful way to socialize with Rockport friends and others you would like to invite. We have reserved a block of tickets $28/adult and $15/student or child. Please sign-up on bulletin board for both events.




 

ALPHA BIBLE STUDY:  
Consider joining us for Alpha Bible Study, Wednesdays, from 6 -7:30 pm thru July 19th. The format of Alpha is that there is a dinner served, short devotion time, view a video on the scripture, and then small group discussion.  We had 20 people on Wed. for Alpha. Currently asking for prayers and any ideas for the next step / program to do after Alpha is over on July 19. If you have not attended, please plan to attend when you are available.

JULY:
MISSION AND FUN WEEKEND JULY 21ST, 22ND, & 23RD

Friday night we will “set up camp” in Wesley Hall (where we will be all weekend) Saturday Mission - we will travel around to people in our church family’s homes, helping with tasks they need done. Sunday we will be conducting worship, then after church we will clean up our “camp” and go home! Wooo!  MORE INFO coming to parents emails!
