ROCKPORT HAPPENINGS!

BOOK CLUB:

Join us on July 28th, 7:00pm in the church parlor, for book club.  The book we will be reading is “Home Again” by Kristin Hannah which is a contemporary romance novel about a successful heart surgeon, Madelaine, whose life is upended when her ex-lover and the father of her teenage daughter, Angel, return as a patient needing a heart transplant, forcing them to confront their past and the possibility of a second chance at love and family.  The story explores themes of love, forgiveness, family, and self-discovery, inspired by a real-life heart transplant story.  Hope to see everyone on July 28th for food, fun, fellowship, and discussion.

DON’T FORGET YOUR PLEDGE THIS SUMMER:
I know how easy it is to slip behind while enjoying summer vacations.  If you are not sure how much of your 2026 pledge is outstanding, Sara in the office would be happy to give you an update.  On behalf of Rockport's Finance Committee, thank you for your diligence in keeping up to date on your giving.  If you have any questions on our church finances, feel free to call me at 440-759-5980.  Diana Leitch, CPA & Rockport Finance Chair

ROCKPORT UMC

had a special day Friday, July 10th, by hosting a wonderful picnic with great food, crafts, and games for Ohio Guidestone Berea Children’s Home residents.  Our goal of loving our neighbors and reflecting Christ in our community was achieved.  Our cookies and brownies were gobbled up!  The kids loved our strawberries and watermelon that were nicely presented.  Our cooks made nice cheeseburgers and hot dogs.  The kids loved our crafts, kickball, volleyball, and especially enjoyed helping David Rice shoot free throws.  We created blessed memories for the kids and ourselves.  Dave Plachta, Outreach Chair.

ROCKPORT & NORTH OLMSTED UMC COMBINED WORSHIP & PICNIC:
What an awesome worship and fellowship time we all had on Sunday, July 19th.  Worship was inspiring and the time together with both congregations was wonderful.  And of course there was plenty of food had by all!  Thank you Diana Leitch, for organizing this wonderful combined event!

ROCKPORT MUSIC MINISTRY:
Please consider signing up to do special music during worship this summer while the choir is off.  Sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. In Service, Susan Shick, Director of Music /Organist cell, 440-364-9672.

DONUTS AND COFFEE HOUR:
Please consider hosting donuts and coffee before 9:30am worship and/or after worship coffee hour.  Fellowship is an important part of the life of the church and why not have food as well! Sign-up sheet is posted on the chapel hallway bulletin board.

TAKE-WHAT-YOU-NEED CABINET!
We’re asking for help in shopping for the cabinet! We have a small crew of people who take turns shopping for the cabinet every so often, and we’d love to have your help! We have a cabinet fund, and you do not have to spend your own money, unless you’re donating items. We have a list of item suggestions available, and if you’re interested, please call the office. Please make sure to turn in your receipts to the office to be reimbursed! Thank you.

Camp No Limits Brings Joy, Inclusion, and Faith to Children

For one unforgettable week in late June, Jefferson United Methodist Church (Northern Waters District) was transformed into a place where every child could experience the joy of summer camp. Camp No Limits, a day camp designed specifically for children ages 5 to 12 with disabilities, welcomed campers for a week filled with friendship, fun, creativity, and unconditional acceptance.

The camp, a collaborative effort between United Methodist churches from Jefferson, Colebrook, Windsor, Andover, Conneaut, and Ashtabula, demonstrated what can happen when congregations unite around a shared vision of serving their community.

Venezuela experienced two major earthquakes on June 24, 2026. The pair of earthquakes were the worst to hit the country in nearly six decades. Global Ministries and UMCOR are responding through support to our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Venezuela and Latin America. On July 2, UMCOR made a $50,000 contribution to the ACT Alliance appeal in support of the distribution of food, water, health supplies, and psychosocial care, as well as shelter and family tracing and reunification efforts. UMCOR also awarded a $10,000 solidarity grant for partner Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) that will cover food rations, debris clearance for access, and mobile medical unit interventions.

Read about the UMCOR response in Venezuela.

Your congregation can send collections for UMCOR through the conference with their regular apportionment contributions on Ministry Financials by selecting the green Add Special Giving button on the payment screen, then selecting Fund 1301 UMCOR International Relief Fund, and then specifying Venezuela in the memo space.

Donations can also be made through the conference at our Vanco online giving here: UMCOR International Disasters 1301 | International Mission Partners.

Finally, donations can be made on the UMCOR site directly at: Donate to Campaign.
