ROCKPORT HAPPENINGS!

JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE:
All are invited to journey through the bible beginning with Genesis.  This video study, led by Nancy Geyer, will be on Sundays from 9-9:45am beginning on March 19th.  You may go to lesfeldick.org to view and read this study if you are not able to attend in person or at that time.

UMCOR SUNDAY (FORMERLY ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING) |UMC Fund 9206 is SUNDAY, MARCH 19TH:
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) Sunday is a denomination-wide celebration designed to raise awareness and support for UMCOR. The special offering received on March 19 will underwrite UMCOR’s “cost of doing business” making it possible for UMCOR to focus on responding to communities and individuals when they need immediate assistance. The offering allows UMCOR to preserve the promise that 100% of any donation to a specific UMCOR project or missionary will go towards that project and not to any administrative cost. UMCOR giving Envelopes are available by the treasure chest!

LUNCH BUNCH:
Come join us on Wednesday, March 22nd at noon for salads, sandwiches and fellowship. Donations accepted for missions but no cost for lunch. Hope to see everyone for food fellowship and conversation.  Save, Wednesday, April 19th for our next Lunch Bunch.  Questions, Call Diana Leitch, 440-759-5980.

SOUP AND LENTEN PRAYER/DEVOTION:
Join us on Thursday March 30th from 6-7:30pm for soup and prayer and devotional readings.  All are welcome. Please email the church or sign-up on the chapel hallway bulletin board.  God is good all the time.

COFFEE HOUR:
Please consider hosting coffee hour and sign-up on the bulletin board.  Fellowship is so important to the life of the church and why not have a little snack at the same time!

ALPHA BIBLE STUDY:
Alpha began at the Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London England in 1977.  Millions of people worldwide have tried Alpha, and it has been translated into 112 different languages. Alpha is a great tool for introducing Jesus and the Church in a welcoming environment.  All of the materials used for Alpha are complimentary.Rockport Church will be hosting an Alpha Bible Study, starting Wednesday May 10 from 6 -730 pm for eleven weeks. The format of Alpha is that there is a dinner served, short devotion time, view a video on the scripture, and then small group discussion.  If Alpha is successful, it should be totally welcoming to a person that has never stepped foot in a church! Alpha is a great resource to bring people to Church and to Jesus!  There is a lot of prayer, work, and planning to make Alpha a success.  If you are interested in helping with Alpha, please plan to attend a 30-minute meeting after Church on Sunday March 26, a light lunch will be provided!  If you can’t attend but still want to help, please contact the church office.

BOOK CLUB:
Our next book discussion will be on Wednesday, April 19th @ 7:00pm here at church.  The book we will be reading is “The Lincoln Highway” by Amor Towles. “In June, 1954, eighteen-year-old Emmett Watson is driven home to Nebraska by the warden of the juvenile work farm where he has just served fifteen months for involuntary manslaughter. With his mother long gone, his father recently deceased, and the family farm foreclosed upon by the bank, Emmett plans to pick up his eight-year-old brother Billy and head to California to start a new life. But when the warden drives away, Emmett discovers that two friends from the work farm have stowed away in the trunk of the warden’s car. They have a very different plan for Emmett’s future, one that will take the four of them on a fateful journey in the opposite direction – to New York City. Bursting with life, charm, richly imagined settings and unforgettable characters, The Lincoln Highway is an extraordinary journey through 1950s America from the pen of a master storyteller.” Hope to see everyone in April for fun, fellowship and discussion.

THE ROCKPORT MEN'S GROUP:
will meet at the church on Thursday, April 13th at 6:30 pm for a potluck dinner. In addition to talking about what is on our minds, we will have a discussion of what it means to each of us when Jesus says, “Follow me”. Sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board. Come and enjoy this special time together!
