Lent is a season of the Christian Year where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. It is a period of spiritual preparation for celebrating Easter. The full meaning of Easter is best experienced as one moves through the season of Lent and participates fully in Holy Week services. Lent begins forty days before Easter excluding Sundays.
Ash Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2020) begins the Lenten season.
Feb. 26, 2020
Soup & bread: 6:00pm
Ash Wednesday service focuses on mortality and repentance in the light of God’s redeeming love. As a community of faith, and through self-reflection, we are given an opportunity to relinquish those things that hinder our relationship with Christ. In our repentance, we resolve to live more fully as disciples of Christ. All are invited to participate in this sacred service as we begin the season of Lent together with the Imposition of Ashes.
HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE 2020
Holy Week begins on Palm Saturday/Sunday and concludes on Easter Sunday.
During this time we recall the journey Christ took to the cross. Recognizing the suffering Jesus endured on our behalf, we examine our own spiritual walk with Christ. It is in this week, we experience together through worship opportunities, the jubilation of Palm Sunday, the Last Supper Christ had with his disciples, the night of his betrayal and crucifixion, and conclude with the celebration of Christ conquering sin and death by rising again 3 days later. Easter can never be fully understood unless one walks the road with Christ during Holy Week. All are encouraged to read the Book of John, chapters 13-21
