Jesus is the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him,

and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:1-3 ESV

Huh?!  How can someone be a word?

When you have something on your mind how do you share it with someone?  You want to share information with others…what do you do?  You use words!  Words of warning, words of celebration, words of love, words of comfort, etc.

The plainest reason why Jesus is called the Word, seems to be he was sent in order to reveal his Father's mind to the world.

Jesus…this man who changed the world, knows God’s mind.  He was in relationship with God before the world even began! (John 17:5, 24).  This relationship is the key to understanding who Jesus is and what he says and does.

Rockport believes being in relationships fosters understanding and acceptance of each other.  As a family of God, we listen for God’s wisdom as we grow in our knowledge and relationship with Jesus.  Part of growing as disciples is passing on the Word to others.

May you hear God's Word as you go about your day!
