Advent is a season that begins the church year. The word "advent" comes comes from the Latin word "adventus" meaning “coming” or “visit." The season begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve when we celebrate the birth...the coming of Jesus.
During Advent, we prepare for, and anticipate, the coming of Christ. We remember the longing of Jews for a Messiah and our own longing for, and need of, forgiveness, salvation and a new beginning.
Even as we look back and celebrate the birth of Jesus in a humble stable in Bethlehem, we also look forward anticipating the second advent of Christ as the fulfillment of all that was promised by his first coming.
We prepare for, and anticipate this coming of Christ through corporate and private prayer, study, worship and mission opportunities.
Advent ends on Christmas Day.

2018 advent mission:
Each year we choose a mission to support. This year, we joined Rockport Early Childhood Center in the efforts to supply non perishable food items to the mission of the Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation. Rockport remembers our neighbors who may not have means to enjoy a Christmas meal.
